I was born in 1967 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I moved with my mother to Quanbun Downs Station in the Kimberly region of Western Australia in 1977 aged 10. I have been a keen observer of image and light since an early age.

My interest in photography and filmmaking began at Quanbun witnessing the vast array of changes in colour and light from day to day and season to season. Growing up in such a magic place I learned how to be an artist and a mechanic. Both fields incorporate a strange myriad of mathematics, instinct, feeling, and attention to detail.

In 1978 I spent a year in Aix-en-Province in the south of France studying Ceramics and Art. In 1984 I assisted in the documentary production Journeys To Other Worlds in an episode detailing Aboriginal Dream-time in the Outback. It was while assisting the 16mm filmmaking that my love of the visual media began to flourish.

In 1986 I moved to Los Angeles where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Economics. Life in such a large city was both inspirational and challenging in contrast to life in the outback.

I returned to Quanbun Station in the early 90’s before moving to Perth in 1997 to study Film and Television at Curtin University. Since then I have been actively pursuing my two loves of Filmmaking and Mechanics.
